Staying consistent day 2

I ate better yesterday than I have in a while. I still need improvement but at least it was a start. Did a arm and bicep, middle delts and chest workout yesterday before my run. Ran/walked for 3.25 miles on the treadmill after work. My quads are sore and I don't know why as strange things are happening to my body as of late. I have oral surgery in the morning to have that molar that is giving me fits removed. Tooth goes into my sinus cavity and needs to be broke in half to removed. Also putting in a post for the inplant. That is why he needs to put me out. Said it might take a total of two hours. Can't wait to have this tooth out of my life with all the grief it has caused me over the last 3 years. Weight is 232.8 for a year loss of -10.4 pound. I have ran for 169.05 miles this year. Cycled for 56.42 miles this year. Good day yesterday and need to keep it up.

Back again

My body is in major hurt mode. I think it is because I have been eating nothing but crap. I am starting today to eat clean to see if eating clean is the answer or not. I am hurting all the time and it doesn't let up. I did a round of Prednisone with not much change in the pain. I have gained back 20 of the 30 pound I lost since the beginning of the year. There's not much left for me to do other than eat right or go back on the Injections. So here I go again with this experiment of one. I have proven to myself that I have will power. Now is the time to give it everything I have if I want any quality of life in my old age. I want to be physically active without hurting all the time. I want to run, cycle, swim and lift weights. I am losing muscle like crazy. The answer to slow this down is lifting weights. I need to doing it. As they say I need to eat to live instead of living to eat. WEIGHT: 233.4 RAN: 165.0 CYCLED: 56.42

Rest day today, Starting week 4

Finished week three yesterday and I feel fairly good.  The bike ride yesterday was wonderful with plenty of energy for the climbs up Jensen, part of Palisade and Palmer Hills for  a total of 13 miles.  My 5 runs for the week totaled 18 miles even with the drop back day for my long run, (every third week your long run drops a couple of miles to give your legs a rest).  I am not losing weight but staying at the -20 pound loss.  For now I am happy with that until I get motivated to lose again.  I received my new shoe Friday and ran in them on Saturday for my five mile long run.  So far they worked great.  I got closeouts on Salomon XR Mission Door to Trail.  $79 you can't beat that these days.  They are a neutral cushion shoe with a little stability.  They have an aggressive sole for trails and the advertising says they will work well on the road as well as the trails.  They make a more stable shoe but they weren't on sale ($140 bucks).  These are light shoes and I hope they hold up with me being 223 pounds.  We will see.  Just Run

Week 2 Workout 3

Monday was a rest day, Tuesday did 4.02 miles and yesterday did 3.17 miles for a good start to the week.  I am very tired even with the added sleep and rest days.  I hope my body can catch up and start getting healthy.  Eating still sucks big time.  Will keep plugging along and see if I can get things together at the same time like eating, exercising and rest, all into one package for a change.

7/22/13 Week 1 Workout 7

Yea for me, I week one in the books and it feels good.  I made good use of my Friday rest day with almost 13 hours of sleep.  I didn't get up until 930 today for 11 1/2 hours.  Having 2 rest days are really needed right now.  Hope my body can handle the work load it takes to get through a marathon training program.   For my cross training yesterday I road the bike for 10 miles around Manti.  Week one is in the books, rest day today, then on to Week 2.  I still need to eat better consistently to get through this training I really want to do because I Love Marathons

Workouts 5 and 6

As you know I love the Tour de France and I watch and record the long morning versions so I don't miss to much.  My favorite part of the race is the mountain stages.  They are in the Alps in one of the best stages they will do this year and I fall asleep 45 minutes into the race.  So that was Friday which was a rest day and I guess I needed the rest because I sleep from 7pm to 8am.  Yesterday was long run day and I was scheduled for 6.  Ran down to Jensen lane which gave me a couple good hills and some good down hill for my 6 mile run.  O bye the way, this was one of the most discouraging run I have did in a long time.  No speed, no energy, pain from the beginning to the end.  The best part of the workout was when it was over and I could say that even though I could have quit that I got out the  door and did it any ways.  Today will be cross training with a bike ride to Sterling and back which will end my first week.  Seems like I always have something to complain about.  I will work on that.  Just Run and Run and Run some more

Training day 4

I am back  up to 223.8 and that pisses me off.  It was the best mountain stage of the Tour and even though I didn't eat much junk, I ate almost constantly through the 6 hours of programming.  I did my workout out of 3.92 miles with sit ups, stretches and push ups so I am not slacking there.  Sometimes you can eat health food but you eat to much of these and it shows the next day.

Marathon workout 3

A good run yesterday on the treadmill of 3.96 miles.  Also did my stretches, push ups and sit ups for a really good workout.  I stayed up a little later to watch the Tour de France and only got 6.5 hours of sleep in.  Feelin it this morning.  Eating good for 3 days in a row means I have lost weight each day.  Not the massive amounts that I thought I would coming back after a month of slacking.  I did more running yesterday with less walking.  I hope to get to running the whole workout after the 5 minute warm up.  Carry on

Marathon workout 2

Two workouts back to back made me really tired.  I slept 7 hours night before and 7.5 last night.  Getting enough sleep will be my challenge.  My body needs 8 a nite can function on 7.5 and I go in the whole when I get 7.  Workout called for 3 easy miles.  I ran walked 3.94 miles then stretched, did push ups, did ab machine sit ups.  Workout was a little over and hour and I was soaked.  Excellent workout.  Ate so good yesterday I should be ashamed of myself for doing so good.  Need to make it a habit.

Starting Hal Higdon's Novice Marathon Training plan to run Las Vegas Half Marathon in November

Started the program I listed above yesterday with a 10.38 miles bike ride with Lowry Hill once.  Felt good to ride again.  In the schedule you have one cross training day and yesterday was mine.  You have 4 day of mileage build up and one long run during the week with one rest day.  I need to use some flexibility in how I get the weeks training done, but I will get in all of the workouts on the schedule.  I am thinking very seriously about signing up for the Las Vegas Half.  The registration fee is $180.00 which is ridicules for a running event.  If I spend that much money I will need to make a major commitment with my eating, weight loss, getting in the training and keeping my asthma and arthritis under control.  So am I capable of this amount of training because if I sign up and don't do the run I will never hear the end of it from Carolyn and rightfully so.  Will making this commitment be the answer I have been looking for or am I setting myself up for failure.  I don't think Brandon has signed up yet so I might have a few weeks to see how my body will tolerate the training load need to complete a half.  My main goal for the year was to lose 4 pounds a month in 2013.  Up until a month ago I was right on track and down to 215.  One month of slacking and eating everything in sight I went right back to 227.8.  Yesterday I was 225.2 which makes a 18.0 pound loss for the year.  I should have lost 24 pounds so for this year.  I will be close to being back on track by the end of the month.   Another adventure, I hope this one sticks

Start of the year:  243.2
Weight as of 7/15/13:  225.2
Lost so far this year:  18.0
Goal weight loss should be:  24.0

227.8 a sad situation

I am having one heck of a time getting control of my eating again.  I am back to hurting so bad I can hardly stand it but keep feeding my face with junk.  I am going back to working through each meal as they come, kind of like AA, one day at a time.  I will take each meal one at a time and try to eat healthy food for that meal.  My weight is back to 227.8 pounds and creeping up daily.  Did a good run with Brandon yesterday on the Nelis track.  Nevada bothers my allergies a bunch, so I am still paying for it today.  Got in 4.09 miles.  I will do my best to control what I put in my mouth today.

My yearly miles makes me sad:  98.21 miles this year

1 hour walk on the treadmill

I did a one hour walk on the treadmill for 3.69 miles today.  My joints were bothering me because I haven't been eating very good.  I don't know how I can work so hard exercising then ruin it by eating the wrong food and way to much of them.  Weight is starting to creep up again so I need to get my act together before it's back to the 250's again.  Set backs happen and I need to get it together

Couch to 5k done without the 5k

I am attaching Billy's new blog for who doesn't have it, http://italyforawhile2013.blogspot.it/ .  Write good stuff to him to inspire working out and a healthy lifestyle while he is in Italy.  No ass chewing because MOM with take care of that.
I am now 215.6 pounds and eating good stuff.  Trying to eat more vegetables.  I have been eating more fruit and not many veggies.  Need to switch it up to more veggies.  No processed food, no sugar,  no dairy, no wheat, no corn.  Drinking water, coffee and a little tea.  Mom bought a sun tea jug for us, now I need to put it to use.
The pain is not letting up like I hoped it would do but when thinking back over this weekend I ran two runs, one of 3.75 and the other for 3+ in the heat and Brandon and I moved everything from the storage shed into the new shed I had built.  So considering doing a little ran and work, even with eating as good as I have I guess I should hurt some.
Lets start posting again and I will try and get Rowdy involved if he ever cut down on the overtime he has been putting in.  I know Ash is just starting football practice and he get involved in that.  We all need to make time to workout, just because it feel so good

219.0

I am on schedule with my 4 pounds a month weight loss which I started the first of the year for a total of 20 pounds lost in the last 5 months.  I have to keep reminding myself that if I can keep it up until the end of the year that is a total of 48 pounds.  I have one more workout in my Couch to 5k workout plan and I will be done with it.  Might run a 5k this Saturday in Manti with Brandon, we will see.  As long as I eat right with all of the fresh foods, lean meats and stay away from sugars, dairy, wheat, processed foods the swelling and the pain is so much better.  I have been running with Brandon and did longer runs with no problems but I am so slow.  After I run a 5k I need to start on some hill work for endurance then speed work to pickup my pace.  If I hold together things are looking good.

218.4

Finished up Couch to 5k week 7 workout 3 with only a 2.13 mile run.   Had a hard time getting into it.  I did a 10 miles bicycle ride around town on Saturday and I don't know if that was why I had such a bad run or not.   Slipped a little with my eating and the scale and the pain proves it.  Need to stay on track.  I would like to be below 205 by the end of June.

217.0

Couch to 5k week 7 workout 2 completed.  Went off the food wagon and had some really bad results from eating junk.  Arthritis came bad with a vengeance.  I am finally getting back to feeling somewhat better.  Hard lesson to learn but I found out that clean eating is what's making the difference.  Ran 2.92 miles yesterday.  Can't wait until I start posting at least 3 mile runs consistently.  Funny how your mind works, like three miles or nothing.   Stupid shit

217.8

Got in my first workout of Couch to 5k week 7 workout 1.  A 5 minute warm up then 25 minutes of jogging.  I was able to get in 2.81 miles in the 36 minutes of the workout.  The Arthritis is still manageable so other than being tired things are looking up.

I am finding out how important is it to stay consistent with my eating program.   I have been in the 200 teens twice last week then back into the 220's when I don't eat right.  Finished week 6 of Couch to 5k and I am still holding up.  Running is getting somewhat easier.

220.6

I had another weak moment yesterday and ate a very large bag of popcorn and 4 candy bars at work to wash down the very healthy green salad I had for lunch.  The weak moment need to be brought under control before they become the vice of the day.  I was 220.0 yesterday and today I am 220.6 so not to bad of a penalty for stupid eating.  I did get sicker than a dog and went to sleep by 6pm last night.  Probably the sugar that I haven't eaten in over 6 weeks crashed me.  I did Couch to 5k week 6 workout 1 this afternoon and the two 10 minute sessions of running felt pretty good.  Total workout was 2.50 miles with 20 minutes of running and 10 minutes of walking.  I am finally seeing improvement in running somewhat faster.  Looking for a 5k

220.0

Finished my first workout of Couch to 5k week 6 with a 2.53 miles run.  I was able to keep my pace more consistent.  Covered a little more distance and I felt better about being able to run, good for the mind and the soul.  The Fat Sticks I ate on Tuesday are finally getting out of my system..  Cheat days stay in your system for a long time and are so discouraging when you are on a roll and eat something that takes days to get off so you can be back to where you were before eating the junk.  One day in the 2teens makes me want to get there, get out of the 2teens, get to the 200's and possibly be in the 190's soon.  I will do it, it just takes time.

222.4

The desert trip was a success in more ways than one.  I took limited food which was mostly fruit.  I road the wheeler on one of the roughest routes in the state, Devils Racetrack, what a workout.  Two of the three days I did my Couch to 5k runs.  The weather was perfect being in the low 70's.  The last two run of week 4 was for 1.93 and 2.01 miles.  Not much in mileage, but I am doing the best I can that my body will allow.  The swell in the hands and over all pain is better than I ever expected.  I don't want to get my hope up but the eating is all I have changed.  With no wheat, no dairy, no corn and no sugar except the sugar substitutes in the whey protein just might be the answer.  I don't know.  It is hard for me to eat this way but the alternative is taking all of  the meds that cost a fortune and are so unnatural.    I feel better eating this way.  I was 233.2 on 4/1 and today the 30th I am 222.4 for a loss of 10.8 pounds.  Having lost 20.8 pounds from the start of the year is making me feel so much better.  Running is becoming easier but I am still struggling with my wind.  I will overcome this and I will be back soon.  Never give up on making change that improve your body.  Trying different approaches with the alternative medicines is helping.

I still have to find out the hard way that eating along with workout lose weight.  I had two days last week where I ate poorly.  Did my first workout of Couch to 5k week 4 yesterday with a run/walk of 1.87 miles in 29 minutes.  Was a little tougher than it should have been.  I have two more workout exactly like yesterdays so I hope the other two will get easier.  I am going to the desert for 3 day this afternoon and will take little food but no junk.  I want to be below 225 by the time I get home Monday.    Need to keep plugging along and push myself to get threw these rough patches.

My three workouts for Couch to 5k week # 3 is completed and bring on week 4.  All workouts were very doable with no problems.   I stretched after each workout and on Thursday I did 25 sit ups and 5 push ups.  Can't believe I only got in 5 push up.  I need to start doing weights again to build up muscle along with the running.  The strict eating program is over.  I had a free day yesterday which made me feel like crap the rest of the night.  Need one once in awhile to let me know I need to stay on track.  The day after I was back up to 226.6.  I think once a month free day is enough.

226.0

Started week 3 of Couch to 5k with a 23 minute workout for 1.58 miles.  A little more running time and less walking.  Knock on wood, I am holding up better than I have been lately after working out.  I don't know if it is working with Dr. Larsen, the meds, my attitude.  I need to find a 5k to run at the completion of Couch to 5k schedule.  I know I am on a roll and up beat right now with the weight loss and being able to run.  I need to make the things I am doing now a part of my life forever.  The funny thing is I really don't miss the chips.  Eat right now is a little boring but I think with some meal planning with a verity of healthy dishes this just might workout.  Dr. Larsen has me on three natural supplement for what he thinks is ailing me.  He is the one that put me on the eating program I have been on for the last 3 weeks.  The three weeks are up on Thursday when I have an appt. with him.  So tomorrow we see where we go from here

Hip hip hurray, I am finally out of the crappy 230's that my body just loves so much.  This morning the scales shock the crap out of me by reading 227.8 pounds.  Now staying here as I work on getting out of the 220's.  I almost have my April goal of losing 4 pounds for a total of 16 pounds so far this year.  I completed the second week of Couch to 5k which is doable with a certain amount of discomfort.  I am hoping that my body will adjust to the pounding and added effort and become accustom to it.  I did a 20 minute workout for 1.40 miles.  Not much but at least I am out there doing it

My body does love the 230's and doesn't want to let go.  My goal this week is to win this battle and I will.  I have lost 12.6 pounds since the first of the year.  I thought losing 4 pounds a month would be so easy and I was so wrong.  I should have lost 12 pounds so far which means I am on track for the year.  I am 10 day into the month and need to lose the 4 pounds this month.  It is getting harder so I can't wonder off track at all the rest of the month.  Started my second week of Couch to 5k with a 20 minute workout yesterday.  I would like to say the workouts are getting easier but they are not.  Again I have to follow the routine strictly to give me the rest I need so at the end of all this I will be strong enough to continue on to a 10k program.  I look at changing my blog name but nothing else says it like my motto:  Stay Consistent

Yesterday was windy so I wimped out and ran on the treadmill.  I am do good with the schedule so far.  Not getting in alot of mileage but it is giving my body a chance to get used to the pounding again.  So the first week is down and I did probably 3 miles weed and feeding and Grumexing the lawn today, did a workout by doing chores.  I feel somewhat sore in the shoulder from the spreader and a little tired overall.  I have another day  off tomorrow and I plan on pruning the fruit trees.  The runs start back up on Monday.  I am back to weighing everyday and I was down .2 of a pound, it all helps

I have my fingers crossed that this Couch to 5k will be the answer to get me back to my favorite exercise of running.  I was sore after the first run.  A day off made yesterdays run ok.  The whole body is having a hard time adjusting to the pounding, that is why I can't deviate from this easy schedule.  I need to be patient and get through the whole 8 weeks, then see where I stand.  The eating plan is going well except that the last few days my stomach is acting out some.  I haven't been taking my Prilosec for a few days and I might have to get back on it.  Lost another pound so things are working the way I want.  Have patience, just run

April Fools day is the perfect day to get back on track with everything!  I started the 14 to 21 day eating program that Dr. Burke Larsen put me on last Friday afternoon.  Mainly protein 3 times a day with veggie.  No refined sugars or anything with added sugar in it.  No breads or dairy but I can eat fruit and nuts, but no peanuts.  I am not supposed to drink coffee but to heck with that.  No corn products at all, I should lose weight on that alone,( no Doritos).  I started a 3 day a week Cool Running schedule call Couch to 5k on the first.  I feel wasted today and don't know if it is because of the workout or that I only got 6 1/2 hours sleep, probably both.  I didn't make my 4 lb weight loss for March.  I started at 234.2 and ended at 233.2 for a loss of 1 pound not the 4 I wanted.  This year I have lost a total of 10 pounds, should be 12.

I did 45 minutes on the trainer today.  My butt is so sore from the seat.  I need major seat time to toughen it up.  I always feel so uncoordinated when I first get on the bike.  I think that getting a little exercise loosened me up because I was 1.6 pounds liter today.  Need to keep it up along with my new eating habits

234.0

I promised myself I would lose 4 pounds a month this years.  So far this month I have lost .2 pounds, not good.  Today is the 20th and I only have 11 days to lose 4 pounds, we will see.  Monday I started cutting out sugar.  That means all processed foods with added sugar as well a all corn products, which is another sweetener in processed foods.  No more Doritos, I might lose 20 pounds from not eating Doritos alone, I make a meal of these on many a night.  I am also cutting out dairy so that will help me with pastries because I need milk to wash them down.  I am eating meat, eggs, veggies, fruit and whey protein shakes.  The hard part is cutting out all of the snacking, a very bad habit I have been doing for so long.  I road the trainer for 45 minutes today and it kicked my butt.  Hardly any resistance, just spinning.  Still doing the stretching for my lower back and glutes.  Wish me luck on getting down to 230.2 by the end of the month

Trying a different approach

I am feeling a whole lot better now the cold has passed.  Evie, Bella and Heather have had a bug which I hope I don't get.  The middle of the month and I have only been on the trainer once for 20 minutes.  The trainer worked out ok, if I use it.  I am trying a different approach for the treatment of my condition, (Arthritis).  I was looking for someone that did acupuncture.  A fellow worker said to look up Dr. Larson just down the street here in Gunnison next to the hospital.  I got on his web site which said he is a Chiropractor and he does nutrition counseling as well as Acupuncture.  Works on the Meridians to balance the chi.  He is schooled in other forms of healing so I decided to give him a shot.  First session was paperwork and testing.  He is a runner with a weight problem, so I can really relate to him and he can me.  Next session, some adjusting, a little of the bone cracking you expect from a chiropractor, but not to much.  Showed me a stretch I need to do and it is the one I have always hated doing but I will do it.  I have a 45 minute session on Monday where he wants to get into a nutrition plan.  Boy do I need a nutrition plan.  By the way, I am still going to Doctor Call and will stay on the Arthritis meds while doing this holistic approach

Well another month without any exercise.  Excuse:  Had a super bug most of February but I had some good company along the way.  Dad, Brandon, Carolyn and many here at work have had this cold.  I am going on 5 weeks.  Feel somewhat better but not all the way there yet.  I did lose my 4 pounds for the month which is a very important goal of losing a pound a week this year.  Started in January at 243.2 and I am down to 234.2 for a loss of 9 pounds so far this year.  I bought a cycle trainer that you put the rear tire of your bike in and clamp it down so you can ride indoors all year around.  Cleaned out the computer room and set up a TV so all I need is to get it done.  Remember if I lose 4 pound a month that is 48 pounds in a year.  If I lost 1 pound a week that is 52 pounds a year.  Doing it without exercise is harder than with exercise so I need to get is on

One month since last post, to the day!

I had the blister on the ball of my foot exactly one month ago to the day.  I had a flair up with the Arthritis that set me back.  I then got this cold which I have had for three weeks and counting.  I haven't did any exercise for over one month.  The good part is I kept my goal of losing four pounds a month.  I have improve on my eat a great deal and I need to tweak it more.  I have lost another 2 pounds so far this month which puts me right on track.  I am hoping to workout the rest of the month.  I'm thinking of doing a 35 mile bike ride in Mesquite, NV next month to see if bike riding is doable.

Happy Birthday Billy

I took Wednesday off because I have this blister on the ball of my left foot which keeps getting bigger.  I thought I would man up and walk yesterday which caused the blister to get even bigger to the size of a half dollar.  I did walk for 1.78 miles in 30 minutes but under considerable pain.  So today I took some moles skin and cut out a hole the size of the blister and taped it over the outer edge of the blister so the blister bubble sticks up through the center of the mole skin.  This is an old ultrarunning technique used to keep you running after blistering on a 50 to whatever distance run.  Not bad so far, just walking around.  Will see if it stays on when I get on the treadmill.  I can't believe my feet have got that soft

Workout, workout, workout

I walked for 2.12 miles in 36 minutes yesterday.  Remember how sore I was all day yesterday from the push ups, well after my walk I got on the floor and knocked out 10 push ups.  There was no where near the pain that I had the day before.  So I will do push ups everyday when I workout.  I need to incorporate some sit ups into the routine.  We have a sit up chair, lounger type machine that they used to advertise on TV all the time that takes some of the pressure off your neck, that I will use for my sit ups.  I did sleep a whole lot better last night which helped a bunch.  I was so hungry yesterday and had little control so I ate more at work and at home which caused a weight gain, the first since the 2nd of January.  I guess we need a slip up once in a while to let us know what works and what doesn't.  A bagel with cream cheese just before bed doesn't work to well at losing weight.

Another workout done

Got in 1.82 miles in 30 minutes yesterday.  I am losing my strength like I can't believe so I thought I would kick out 25 push ups.  I got 6 and each on was like I was already at failure.  I couldn't believe it.  I was up for half of the night hurt in my hands, wrists, elbows and shoulders.  6 push up did that to me..  I need to stay at it to see if it is possible to get in some major mileage and gain some muscle back.

Sunday off

Trying to take it easy with my workouts so I don't over do it, so I took Sunday off.  I spent all of Sunday trying to thaw out the drain in the new bathroom sink.  I was able to get the intake line thawed to the toilet in the main bathroom.  About 4 pm Sunday the sink finally freed up, thank goodness.  Wanted it to be thawed, especially with Brandon coming home.  The temp is up a bit, at least we only went to 0 the last couple nights, 10 below was the killer.  I walked 1.71 miles for 30 minutes outside Saturday just as the sun was setting and it was around 0, kind of miserable towards the end.  I have been eating a whole lot better than I was.  Still not on any strict diet, I will save that for later, if I need it.

Workout 4

Saturday is almost over, which is ok with me.  A friend whom I have worked with for many years had a heart attack while out hunting with his boys.  He spent 20+ years at Utah State Prison then retired from there.  Move to Montana and went to work with Montana State Prison and was happier than a pig eating do do...All the hunting and fishing he could ask for, right up his ally.  The guy used to help me with the Special Olympic wheeler ride.  He was 4 months older than Billy, 44 years old.  He was cremated.  His family came today and did a celebration of life for him at the Gunnison Stake Center.  He want people to celebrate his life, if they wanted to get up and say things about him, they could and by the way he wanted pizza served and they did.  We have had 4 deaths the last 5 months and that is enough.  I know it is part of life, but it just seems so unfair to take these so young.  Enough!  Evie has some nice stitches in her ear and head where she hit her head on something at McD's.  Poor little girl.  Ok, yesterday I got in 2.02 miles in 30 minutes.  Ok, but I feel like I am not doing much.  Have to get over that.  Lost a little more weight.

Workout 3

Trying to get a good workout in without over doing it is hard.  I was going for 30 minutes of fast walking but ended up with 49 minutes do 3.02 miles.  I feel tired this morning, but it is the good workout tired it need.  My joints are sore but so far I can handle it.  My eating was not as good as the day before and the scale still said I was down another pound.  I know you always lose more weight during the first week than you do at any other time.  I am glad it is Friday because everytime I have 4 days off I always want more, which makes the three day work week seem like a long long week.  It was -10 again this morning and I want the super cold weather gone.  The bad news with the two bathrooms is the clog in the sink drain is ice and the toilet in the other bathroom is the intake water line is frozen.  I will put a couple of space  heaters in the cellar and leave that door open to see if we can get things thawed out.  Got to love the cold weather.  Good news is I have 2 days off to get it done

January 3 Workout day 2

Yesterday was my first workout in two month and it was uncomfortable.  Walked on the treadmill for 1.71 miles in 30 minutes.  Weight was down 2.2 pounds which I will not count on being that accurate for a couple of days.  My blood pressure is up more than I would like.  I will give it a couple of weeks and see where it goes.  I think I ate better than usual because I didn't snack after dinner last night.  For now I will eat normal meals but cut out all of the snacking, especially after dinner, just before bed.  Should help with my acid reflux to.  It has been so cold here for the last couple weeks I can't believe it.  It was -10 outside the kitchen window right next to the house.  We are having a few problems with the plumbing that I hope we can get fixed tomorrow.  Carolyn is home sick today and Heather has a bad cold.  I hope it doesn't go through the house like it usually does.  I have been grateful that we bought the wheeler and put the snowplow on it.  That machine can move some snow.  We are wintering ok, just need the weather to warm up because I can handle the snow just not the cold.

Ready for a new start, 2013

Happy New Year everyone, time for some new goals.  I have not workout since 11/04/12.  I know I have problems with my health which include Rheumatoid Arthritis, Asthma, bad knee and newly found bulging disk in my lower back.  I am no spring chicken with being 63 years old.  So what to do now with my workouts with this limitations.  I don't want to set myself up for failure again like I did most of last year.  My runners mind says to go for broke and do some major cardio, but I have to be realistic.  My first goal is to use this blog as my journal to record my eating and workout habits.  With Billy going to Italy, it will be a good way to stay in touch.  I am 243.2 pounds and I know I have to lose weight, not just want to, I have to if I want to do the things I like to do.  So my second goal is to lose one pound a week.  Don't sound like much but one pound a week adds up to 52 pounds by this time next year.  So my third goal is to do some sort of workout 6 days a week, with a goal in mind to work towards being able to run again.  Like I said, I don't want to set myself up for failure, so I will modify things that I have to.  This has to be a positive year, so, I need to change my picture for inspiration.  Will take the most unflattering picture of my fatso bod that I can legally post here.
