A year, one day at a time. Day 49 Week 8

Over all last week was pretty good.  I road the bike yesterday for my longest ride of the year, 19.36 miles.  Longer than I planned with way to much wind.  But as I always say the more wind the better the workout.  I made one mistake with my eating.  I had planned to have one day where I can eat anything.  I went way over board on Saturday and it stills shows on the scale Monday even after the long ride.  I will only have a cheat meal instead of a cheat day and see how that goes

A year, one week at a time. Day 46---Week 7

I have slacked a whole lot with my weight loss.  I started monday kicking things up a notch or two.  Getting close to my starting weight of 228.2,  weighing in today at 228.6,  From when I started I should have lost 6 pounds by now.  With a little intensity with training and watching what I put in my mouth I can still lose the 20 pounds by the time Brandon comes home at his half way point.  I stayed a little longer at work yesterday so I walked on the treadmill only for 3.59 miles.  Didn't have the calories burn I would have if I would have ran but it loosened up my mucles a bit.  Keeping it up by just keeping my body in motion

A year, one day at a time. Day 44 Week 7

My bike ride was more difficult than I expected.  Palmer side of Lowry Hill almost tipped me over and I mean that literally.  But I made it for a 12.70 miles bike ride and besides having sore calves I not that bad.  Eating has improved somewhat

A year, one day at a time. Day 43 Week 7

Things are going ok here in Manti.  Back on the exercise wagon again.  Yesterday I ran for 5.18 miles which took forever.  I'll try and not write to much about my health issues because it's alot of complaining.  I am getting ready for a bicycle ride to Sterling.  I will see how that goes with the two hills I have to do.  No Palisade for me today.   I think that one would be a little much.  Will try to ride and run every other day with a swim thrown in when I can.  See how it goes because I still have the urge to participate in running and cycling events.  Might look at a Duathalon

A year, one day at a time. Day 37/Week 6

Haven't posted for awhile, mainly because of health problems, again.  The two non narcotic meds that the doc put me on were causing me more problem because of the side effects.  So I took the week to get off everything but the Enbrel injections and the Methotrexate which is susposed to kill off the extra white blood cells that are attacking my joints and cause the pain.  I can live with the pain but I can't live with the side effects of those other meds.  I will learn to control the pain.  I did work out Monday and Tuesday for a total of 4.63 miles.  Will keep working out and see how it goes.

A year, one day at a time. Day 29/Week 5

You know I have been running a little bit with each walk.  Sunday I decided to pick it up and see if I could handle more running.  I picked a bad part of the day since I ran at 1300 hours in almost 100 degree heat.  Not smart because I haven't ran outside that much.  I wanted 4 miles and I got 4.01, good.  That put me up to 14 miles for the week, good.  No workout yesterday, because I needed some rest

A year, one day at a time. Day 28/ Week 4

Friday got in 2.69 miles with a 5'00" @ 5mph run.  I it always hard to get myself to the aerobic room but once I get on the treadmill things are better.  Need to make this a habit again.  Yesterday Carolyn and I road the wheeler up Manti Canyon, across to 12 miles campground where we had lunch.  I was an experiment to see if my bod could handle the rough roads.  We decided to come down 6 Mile Canyon and by the time we got home I was done.  I can handle a 50 miles fairly rough ride and that is good to know.  I woke up with very stiff hands, with a little more pain in the joints than normal.  The worse side effect was how tired I am.  But I am getting it done

A year, one day at a time. Day 26/Week 4

I got in 3.58 miles yesterday with 4'45" @ 5mph of running.  Gradually building up on the new prescription and they might be working.  I hate to get my hopes up.  The only problem I see with these types of meds. is they take the pain away but don't help the problem causing the pain.  These are non narcotic and this new one is not habit forming.  You do have to ween yourself on and off this med. is one of the main draw backs that I see.  Anyways it is taking the edge off, which makes things more tolerable.  A better attitude today for me

07/04/12 A year, one day at a time. Day 24/Week 4

I haven't posted for a few day because the pain got out of hand.  I was having to many side affect on the Cymbalta (which I probably have already posted about) even though it was helping with the pain.  I don't feel like I am over doing it but maybe so.  I did a workout last Friday of 50 minute and got in 3.13 miles with a run of 4'15" @ 5mph.  Ended the week with 7.99 miles of run/walking.  I took 2 days off work to try and get my head straight, more than anything.  Happy Fourth of July to everyone.  The pain has been quite unbearable so I said what the hell and went for a Walk/Run today.  I did 3.72 miles with more running than I planned because of the biting flys.  I know now to wear insect repellent.  It's hard to move and rather painful but what are the consequences if I don't.  Not a happy scenario any way you look at it.  I found out that laying in bed doesn't cut it.  9 hours of bed time and you can't hardly move when you get up.  I called Dr. Call and he is trying me on a new med.  Savella which is mostly used for fybromyalga.  Lots of side affects again, so we will see.   Will keep looking until we find something that works
